When you see someone for the first time, and you want to talk to them do lines like, “Do you have a Band-Aid? I scraped my knee falling for you,” or “”Will you touch my hand? I want to tell my friends I was touched by an angel” come to mind. Please! Saying something that corny and cheesy will not get you anywhere. You may get a slap across the face, or a drink poured over your head! No one wants that!
If you want to be memorable (in a good way), but are at a loss for what you can say, keep reading. The list below is a collection of questions you can use to start up a conversation with a girl. Some of the questions are a little weird, so make sure you think carefully before you use one. Not all the questions below are the best to use when you first meet someone – but, they can be used to start conversations on a second, third, or fourth date!
1. When was the last time you had to scream at the top of your lungs?
Talk about a good conversation starter! This one is bound to give you a good story! You don’t always scream when you are angry – so be prepared for some laughter.
2. What would your dream kitchen look like?
Most women probably have a dream house in their mind. Why not ask them about the one room in the house that will be most often used? Hopefully, the girl you ask likes to cook!
3. Describe the weirdest conversation you ever overheard.
We can’t help it. Sometimes people just have conversations in public, and we end up hearing them. Why some people walk around with a cellphone on speaker while shopping, is one of life’s greatest mysteries. So, have some fun at a stranger’s expense with this question.
4. What is the one ice cream flavor you would never try?
Although there are some yummy flavors out there, chances are, she hasn’t tried one – and never will. It is good to know some likes and dislikes of a girl you are interested in, this is a fun question to ask!
5. What one thing in life is most unappreciated by people?
This is a deep one. But let us be honest, we all take things for granted. Like power, cell phones, and food. Sometimes thinking about how lucky we are is a good reality check. Plus, you will learn more about the things she appreciates.
6. What is the ugliest item of clothing you own?
All girls have that one piece of clothing they thought they couldn’t live without. So, they bought it, brought it home, and realized that it was something they would never actually wear! Find out what impulse purchase she made! Maybe you can think of some follow-ups to this one when you get her answer!
7. Is there a product you bought that greatly exceeded all expectations?
This may shed some light on how picky she is about things! IF she says that there has never been a product that was better than she thought it would be, she may be super high maintenance! Back away slowly! On the other hand, you may find out about a product that would be helpful to you!
8. If you could speak another language, what would it be?
It may come in handy someday to be able to speak another language, for work, school, or travel – who knows! Maybe she already knows another language, this could be a great way to break the ice and learn more about her!
9. If you could blink and end up anywhere in the world, where would you go?
We all have that fantasy spot somewhere in the world that we would love to go see – whether it is for the first time or the fiftieth time! Find out where she would want to go and keep it in mind, someday, if possible, take her there!
10. What is something I would never guess about you?
This one is admittedly a little flirtatious, but on a second or third date, this could let her know you are serious about getting to know her. Most girls want to know that they are important to you on a deeper level. Get to know her with this question!
11. What things make you laugh out loud?
As Cindy Lauper once sang “Girls just wanna have fun!” So, find out what makes this girl laugh! This is a good one to ask if the conversation starts to fade or you are in an awkward moment and you are tempted to use a cheesy conversation starter.
12. What would you do all day if you didn’t have to worry about making money?
Passion. We all have it. If you didn’t have to work, what things would you do? The answer to this question will probably shed some light on what she is most passionate about. If she says she would just stay home and watch television and eat ice cream, you may want to excuse yourself politely!
13. What do you like the most about living in (insert city name)?
This is a great way to find out where she goes and what she does in her free time. You can talk about your favorite local places and hopefully find common interests. Some of the things you talk about with this question could be good dates for the future.
14. Would you ever want to travel cross-country? In what type of vehicle?
Yes, this is weird and rather specific, but you can find out really quickly if she likes to travel. A lot of people have no problems camping and roughing it. Other people prefer to be pampered at five-star hotels! Her answer will shed light on her lifestyle and expectations.
15. What are three things you want to do before you die?
Ok, this is a tad morbid, and you can rephrase it – ask about the top three things on her bucket list instead (same idea – and avoids the word “die”). The answer will give you tremendous insight on her priorities and goals.
16. What is your favorite meal to cook?
She may hate cooking – but you need to try to avoid yes or no questions! Learn about her skill (or lack thereof) in the kitchen)! This can help you learn about the food she enjoys eating too.
17. Are you still in touch with your childhood friends?
You can learn about her loyalty and how much value she places on friendships with this one. She may expand her answer to include high school friends. If she didn’t move around much, she might have lifelong friends. She could ask this one back to you – so be prepared!
18. What is your favorite animal?
May sound lame, but it is light-hearted and can even stir up happy childhood memories. This way you may also learn about any pets she had when she was younger or if she hates all animals (or has allergies)!
19. What is your biggest pet peeve?
This will shed a lot of light on what kind of a person she is! You will get insight on her temperament as well! Plus, you can learn what things you should avoid doing if you ever want to have a future with her!
20. How do you spend your mornings?
Is she always running late because she overslept? Or does she take her time to get ready in the morning? Does she go to the gym or for a run first thing? Her morning routine can tell you a lot about her personality.
21. How do you spend your evenings?
This can be the follow-up to question number 20. She may be a homebody or a party animal! Wouldn’t it be nice to know that before you decide to ask her out?!
22. What makes you happy?
This is a light-hearted question that will allow her to share good things with you. She may also have some stories about a time when she was very happy. Information like this is helpful if you continue to see her – you will know what to do to make her happy!
23. What makes you sad?
Logical follow-up to the previous question. But, this one may also give you tidbits about what things to avoid to make sure she isn’t sad around you!
24. What do you wish you could be better at?
We all wish we were more skilled at something. Whether it is public speaking or cooking. A humble person will have no problem admitting their weaknesses. If she doesn’t have a good answer here – she probably thinks too highly of herself. (That is a red flag!)
25. What is the worst pickup line someone has used on you?
Women have heard some doozies. Find out which line she found the most irritating and get a good laugh at some other guy’s expense!
Be sure that you are prepared to answer these questions too. If the girl is into you, she will want to know what you have to say too!
