Nicknames are awesome. Who doesn’t love getting one? Yet sometimes they can really confuse the heck out of us.

You hear a man call his friend brother or bro all of the time, right?  You have heard someone say so and so is in a bromance or you might have heard someone introduce another person as their brother from another mother. But why? It’s because men become bonded enough to the point where they start to feel as if they were really brothers, or bros, even though they are not related by blood whatsoever.

But what could it possibly mean when a girl calls you, a man, bro? Where is that coming from.

When she does call you bro it can definitely catch you off-guard. This isn’t something that women tend to call on another and, most of the time, men do not call women that either. However, there may be a time that a girl does call you it.

So you might find yourself wondering things like whether she is being offensive or if she is not in her right mind.

Hopefully you have been thinking too hard on it, because honestly there isn’t that much of a deeper meaning behind it. It’s simply a good term that people, mostly guys, use it with people that they enjoy the company of or consider to be their friend.

It’s Out Of Habit

She might just be calling you bro because it has become habit to use it as a term on people that she talks to. When you start saying something regularly to identify one group of things, in this case those things would be friends, you might start saying it without even thinking about it first.

Usually it is a good thing because when you dislike someone you don’t generally call them a neutral or friendly term such as friend, buddy, pal or bro.

If she means it in this fashion she will say it lightheartedly and she will use it often.

Who knows, she may even call her gal-pals bro, because to her it means nothing more than friend.

You Are Part Of The Crew Now

She might be saying it because he doesn’t think of you as one of her squad members. In case you don’t know, a squad is a group of very close friends. Maybe you are able to hang with the group more and she sees you as part of them now. They could possibly all use this term. She just doesn’t see you as a brother figure, if she says it with this meaning, instead she sees you as part of her friend family. She might never see you romantically if she means bro in this fashion. You might have been put in the friend zone, but she does feel extremely close to you.

You are now just a part of her inner circle.

She Wants To Look Out For You

She could be calling you bro because he sees you as someone he has the urge to protect. Meaning you have become as close to her as a family member. She might feel the need to look out for you because she doesn’t think that you can do it for yourself. She views you as she would her little bro.

When a girl is calling you this name, it does not usually mean that she likes you as more than just a friend, but he does care for you greatly.

She Is Very Angry Or Not Happy With You

There is the occasional bro thrown out in a derogatory way. How do you know when this uncommon thing happens? You have to read the situation surrounding when she says it to you.

When you are arguing and she is using an angry tone with you when she calls you bro, she is definitely not meaning it as in you are his buddy.

She may say it when she feels like you are acting as more of his friend than you are her boyfriend. It’s definitely is said negatively in this fashion.

When you stop being intimate she may start saying that you act like more than a friend than a boyfriend.

It Is An Inside Joke

Sometimes women will call men ‘bro’ just as an inside joke. They may think it is hilarious to use this term, because it generally doesn’t come from women. How do you know if she is saying this in a joking fashion? It’s all about reading the atmosphere. If her posture is light and her tone is, too, there is a good chance she is kidding around with you.

She might just think it’s a bit funny to use it on a guy.

Often in this situation her friends will use the term with her and vice versa.
